FO Kevin Hornburg

Vice President

First Officer Kevin Hornburg is Vice President of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA). He began his term in January 2026, bringing focus to Pilot representation and the long-term strength of the Association.

Kevin graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree and later earned a Master of Arts in Counseling and Leadership Development from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He spent two decades in the Air Force flying a variety of combat and training aircraft before retiring from military service. Shortly thereafter, he joined Southwest in 2018.

Kevin was first elected to a SWAPA position in January 2023 as the Denver Domicile Representative. He served on the SWAPA Board of Directors and Executive Operating Committee in that role and continues that service as Vice President. His SWAPA responsibilities have included Pilot representation, financial oversight, strategic planning, contract implementation, and governance.

As Vice President, Kevin is focused on helping SWAPA remain connected to the Pilots it represents while intentionally preparing for the future. His concentration is Pilot advocacy and contract enforcement and improvement of coordination across the Association through long-term planning that turns strategy into practical execution.

Kevin believes effective union leadership starts with trust. That requires honest communication and accountability. His approach is practical and direct, focused on strengthening SWAPA over time.

Kevin lives in Colorado Springs with his fiancée, who is also a Southwest Airlines Pilot, and his three children.
